Earlier Tuesday, February 11, 2025 the Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator (Associate Professor) Stephen Odey, welcomed a delegation from Sharda University Agra India, led by Chandersheel Rajput, Assistant Director of the University, and Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Makintami, the University’s representative in Nigeria, on a courtesy call to his office at the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Calabar.

The purpose of the visit was to inform the Commissioner of potential partnership and collaboration opportunities between the University and Cross River State, with the Commissioner subsequently briefing the Government to secure sponsorship for Cross River indigenes to participate in subsidized scholarship programmes at the University.
The Commissioner had a fruitful deliberation with the delegation and assured them of His Excellency, Senator Apostle Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s commitment to advancing the State education sector, as recently demonstrated through the State-sponsored free WAEC registration for 14,804 indigenous students. Professor Paul Itari, Chairman of the Cross River State Scholarship Board, and some Directors of the Ministry of Education attended the Commissioner’s meeting with the representative of Sharda University, as the Commissioner promised briefing the State Governor on their engagement.
